In my experience, most trunk racks are equally tough to deal with. First off, the straps will mar your car’s finish. When driving at high speeds, the straps will vibrate in the wind causing lots of noise. It is almost impossible to get into the trunk of your car with a bicycle on the rack. There is no easy way to secure your bike and the rack so your bike will be at risk of being stolen if you leave it on the rack unattended. Finally, some bikes are real difficult to mount on a rack; the frame and the rack just won’t line up correctly.
That said, a trunk rack is very inexpensive and will get the job done. About the most relieved I have ever been, is the day I got a roof rack for my car. On occasion, I have to carry more bikes than I have roof mounts for. Out comes the old trunk rack and it provides good service.
Hope this helps.
Saris makes a very reliable and user friendly trunk rack. Trunk or hitch is the way to go. Avoid a roof rack as the loss of aerodynamics will kill your fuel economy and with the price of gas today…need I say more?
If you can lift the bike safely, then check out TYTE rack roof racks. your traveling a distance you may want the bicycles on top and out of the way of your trunk access. In addition to the bike carrying capability you have a second area for transporting other items. Prices are around 100 bucks- but that is complete with bike holder and rack system. no hidden add ons.

Hello,
I have not yet used an Allen bike rack and I’m not familiar with their pricing either sorry. But, I have used the bike racks from discountramps. You can see some of the trunk mounted/hatch mounted here(they are definitely affordable): http://www.discountramps.com/trunk-bike-racks.htm
